The world’s refugee crisis and climate change are issues which affect even the most remote nations. Nauru, the world’s smallest island country, has accepted thousands of African and Middle East asylum seekers. Kiribati, a nation of ring-shaped coral islands, has a maximum elevation of eight feet on the main island where the largest number of its population reside. Thus, it is one of the countries most likely to disappear due to climate change and rising sea levels.
