Bike Rodeo (K-8)

This program is currently unavailable. Click here to view all of our current programs.

A Bike Rodeo is a fun, hands-on way to learn how to handle a bike safely through a variety of different stations and an obstacle course.

Participants will have helmets and bikes checked for proper fit, maintenance and safety, followed by brief group instruction, practicing their bike handling and safety knowledge. Participants will earn a Certificate of Achievement at the end and take home a goody bag. This is a short, fun event with many bike education related stations.

Participants should bring a rideable bike, wear close-toed shoes, and have a helmet. Free helmets will be available in case your child needs one.

Expect to spend about one hour at the Rodeo. (We sign people up in 30 minute segments for traffic-flow purposes). You will check-in, then visit all the stations, then proceed to the obstacle course, before checking out and getting your Certificate and goody bag. The obstacle course portion is about 30 minutes long, and completing all the other stations may take 30+ minutes depending on how much time you spend at each (helmet fit, bike fit, bike maintenance check, helmet decorating, hand signals, road safety, etc.). Parents/guardians must stay on-site with their children during this event and are encouraged to check out each station!

(This program was originally scheduled for Saturday, May 10 and was rained out. Saturday, June 7 was our planned rain date, but we have now moved this to Saturday, June 21.)

Many THANKS to FRIENDS OF LEXINGTON BIKEWAYS for their sponsorship and support of this event!
