Unraveling the Secrets of Chromosomes, with Clare O’Connor via Zoom
Four Wednesdays, March 5, 12, 19, 26, 1:00–2:30 p.m.
The DNA carrying our genetic blueprints is highly condensed and intricately folded into our 23 pairs of chromosomes. In this course, we'll discuss the structure and inheritance of chromosomes, as well as the complex epigenetic forces that control gene expression.

The Road to Revolution: 1770–1775, with Dan Breen; in person
Four Tuesdays, March 18, 25, April 1, 8, 1:30–3:00 p.m.
The Revolution did not have to happen. In this series of presentations, we will tell the story of the British government’s missteps and missed chances that led to the outbreak of the Revolution and the consequent loss of its thirteen American colonies.

History Through Rock: 1950s through 1980s, with Terrie Vincent; in person
Five Thursdays, March 27, April 3, 10, 17, 24, 1:00–2:30 p.m.
We will explore through multimedia how Rock music has been influenced by and has sometimes influenced history. ?Videos, photos, and music will evoke memories, remind you of things you might have forgotten and teach you some ?things perhaps you never knew.

“The Rhyme of the Ancient Mariner”: An Astonishing Tale in Verse, with Cammy Thomas; in person
Four Wednesdays, April 2, 9, 16, 23, 10:00–11:30 a.m.
We will discuss Coleridge’s great Romantic poem in which a mariner brings bad luck to his ship by shooting an albatross. The ship is becalmed, the sailors run out of food and water, strange creatures swim in the sea, a ghost ship approaches…

Maturation and the Human Brain: How Biology and Environment Interact to Shape Ability and Disability Over the Lifespan,with David Rose; in person
Three Tuesdays, April 22, 29, May 13, 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
The course examines recent advances in the study of the relationship between brain and behavior, focusing on three "transitional" periods: from birth to early childhood, from early adolescence to adulthood, and from maturity to aging.
