This presentation will provide an overview of the role of the kidneys in the body and the many jobs they do to support healthy function. This presentation will also review how kidney function is measured at the doctor’s office and what to watch out for on tests that involve the kidneys. It will conclude with 5 tips for how to keep kidneys healthy.

Marta Christov, MD PhD is a kidney specialist with a passion for patient education and empowerment. She takes care of patients with kidney problems or on dialysis at Newton-Wellesley Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital. She has an interest in healthy eating informed by her background in basic science as an NIH-funded investigator on phosphate metabolism.
