Join our Human Services Youth and Family Services Manager, Penny Tsiounis in a friendship bracelet making group @ Lexington Community Center Room  230/232.

-April will be open to youth grades 6-12

-May will be intergenerational as part of our Mental Health Month Event. All ages and abilities welcome


Come spend this time meeting new people, or bring your friends! This program is all about building community and socialization.

This program is free, but registration is required to participate.

Making friendship bracelets can be important for a number of reasons, including improvement on:
  • Mental health: The act of focusing on making a bracelet can help relieve stress and anxiety. 
     
     
  • Cognitive development: The intricate tasks involved in making a bracelet can help stimulate cognitive functions and keep the brain engaged. 
     
     
  • Fine motor skills: The act of weaving and knotting threads helps develop fine motor control and coordination. 
     
     
  • Hand-eye coordination: The act of making a bracelet requires a combination of hand-eye coordination and finger dexterity. 
     
     
  • Social skills: Making a bracelet can help foster social skills such as cooperation, communication, and empathy. 
     
     
  • Self-esteem: The act of creating a bracelet for someone can help develop confidence. 
     
     
  • Creativity: The act of designing a bracelet and experimenting with colors and patterns can help develop creativity and problem-solving abilities. 
     
     
  • One-to-one correspondence: The act of counting beads can help develop one-to-one correspondence. 
     
     
  • Color recognition: The act of identifying and naming colors can help teach color recognition.
