Falls are one of the most common causes of disability, morbidity, and even mortality in older adults. The costs, including loss of indepencence, increased pain, and health care expenses, can be overwhelming. Falls are a problem to address not just in old age, but in middle age as well. Fortunately, the evidence suggests we can greatly reduce our risks of falls. Walking programs, chair exercises, and typical balance classes are not enough on their own to make a substantial impact. During this presentation, Dr. Mike Stare will clarify what works best to prevent falls, based on evidence, through science and real world examples. You will also be given solutions that you can use right away to reduce your risk of falls!Dr. Mike Stare is a fellowship trained Doctor in Physical Therapy, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and a Board Certified Nutritionist.

4:00 PM - 5:00 PM    Buildwave® | A hands-on building game! - Buildwave® | Early Fall
Looking for ways to expand your child's creativity? When things don't go their way, can they adapt? Buildwave® is a STEAM/SEL course that helps your child discover their creativity and resilience. During each class, your child will receive wave after wave of materials they'll love like blocks, bricks, and other hands-on pieces. The waves of building are structured like a game, with energetic music and visuals elevating the experience for maximum engagement. Each wave, they build, then disassemble. Build, disassemble. Repeat. It's an opportunity for your child to discover their creativity again and again, but it's also an opportunity for them to fail without judgment. Builds will fall down. Friends will be reluctant to share. We guide your child through these moments of frustration and equip them with strategies to adapt. To them, they're playing an outrageously fun game, but they're also learning fundamental skills they'll carry forever. Learn more at www.buildwave.com.
