This is a series of acting workshops focused on using improvisation as a way to explore fundamentals of theater while encouraging spontaneity, creativity, and teamwork.  The approach is gentle, supportive, and fun; participants will practice skills as a group and attain a comfort level before scene work is undertaken.  Students will not be expected to deliver comedic lines or clever dialogue. Instead, the emphasis will be on creating honest and spontaneous moments within the exercises. No acting experience is required for the course.  Both those new to acting and experienced players are welcome.  During initial activities, participants will be led in exercises aimed at developing listening skills and techniques designed to create a supportive and friendly atmosphere within the group.  Subsequent exercises will help participants understand the building blocks for developing vivid and believable characters ("Who"); environments that constitute the setting of a scene ("Where"); and narrative that advances the storyline of an improvised scene ("What").Instructor: Richard Averbuch

1:00 PM - 3:00 PM    Improvisational Theater - Improvisational Theater
